The Colchester Library Exhibition took place between March 5th and March 30th 2017.

Members of the group exhibited original work, some of which was sold. On each Saturday, members of the group demonstrated their art and talked to visitors about the group.

The committee are grateful to John Talman for his hard work in organising this exhibition.

The 50th Anniversary Exhibition took place at Dedham Parish Church.

This exhibition ran from Tuesday 24th October to Saturday 28th October 2017.

The charity East Anglia's Children's Hospices  (EACH)  will be supported by proceeds from this exhibition.

Artists exhibited original work which was offered for sale.  .

We are pleased to say that Dedham Primary School also took part.  They will helped to design the poster and had their own section at the exhibition.

EACH was represented at the exhibition and we ran a prize draw, all the proceeds of which will be donated to the charity.

The prize draw was drawn at 3 p.m. on Saturday 28th October.  Exactly 50 years to the minute that the inaugural meeting of Dedham Arts Group took place.

Here is a post exhibition message from our Chair, Angella Horner  FRSA

"All good things come and go! However, the happy memories linger on and we have plenty of these to remind us of the popularity and success of this glorious exhibition in St Mary's Church, Dedham. We are so grateful to the Reverend Antony Wilson for giving us permission to exhibit in the church.

It was wonderful to have Lady Ruggles-Brise there to hand out the prizes at the closing ceremony, starting just as the clock struck 3pm, the time our group came into being fifty years ago!
It was also inspirational to have two paintings of one of the founder members, Avril Biggins, who was also able to address the audience during the closing ceremony.

Our most popular painting prize went to Helen Morgans with her fabulous painting "Sharing A Secret". I am delighted to attach a photo of this lovely painting.

Congratulations to all of those that sold their artwork during the exhibition.

We made £3750.75 in total .We shall be able to donate £2500 to the East Anglia's Childrens Hospice (EACH).
We have been reliably informed that business in the village in the neighbouring shops and restaurants far exceeded the normal numbers - all due to our exhibition which attracted so many visitors last week!. Our commitment to interact with the community is proving to be a win/win scenario and we will continue to build our connections as we move forward into next year as Dedham Art Society. "

The pictures below show  Helen Morgans with her winning painting, "Sharing a Secret",  Avril Biggins with her paintings that were exhibited 50 years ago and Angela Horner, FRSA in front of a particularly appropriate arrangement of the beautiful golden flower displays that the Church Flower ladies provided.   All the pictures show the beatiful surroundings that we were priviledged to use for this exhibition.
